First record of the alochthonous spider species Mermessus trilobatus (Emerton, 1882) (Araneae: Linyphiidae) in Croatia
Besides habitat degradation, main threat to biodiversity are invasive species. Lately, in Croatia more attention is given to this issue and there are more related researches. They are focused mostly on water fauna and invasive plant species, while less attention is turned to terrestrial arthropods, especially spiders. In 2007 a research of spider communities was conducted on meadows of the “Medvednica” Nature Park. The main goal was to determine the influence of intensive mowing and management of meadows used for recreational purposes (skiing) on spider communities, that is, to identify the differences in composition of spider communities on these habitats and on meadows that are not intensively managed. During research, the allochthonous spider species Mermessus trilobatus (Emerton, 1882) was recorded for the first time in Croatia.
