Stress State of the Header-to-PGV-1000M Steam Generator Connector Weldment with a Cavity
The computational analysis of the elastoplastic stress state for the hot header-to-PGV-1000M steam generator connector weldment with a defect in the form of a semi-elliptical planar cavity is carried out. The influence of the geometrical parameters of cavity on the stress state of the connector weldment is studied. The effect of the loading history on the stress state of the connector weldment with a defect is assessed. It is shown that the axial stresses ahead of the cavity tip of 2.5 mm in depth attain their maximum values for hydraulic testing. After hydraulic testing and unloading, the stress values decrease by 36% under normal operating conditions. In simulating operational loading conditions neglecting of residual stress intensity factor of the connector weldment with a defect in the form of cavity leads to obtaining the overestimated (up to 25%) value of stress level.
