Neue Medien im DaF-Unterricht am Beispiel der Adjektivdeklination
Croatian language does not have an article as a word class, and the old distinction between determined and undetermined forms of adjectives is maintained only by an ever smaller number of speakers. The morphological differences between Croatian and German, where such distinctions still exist, cause serious problems when Croatian students try to master the declension of adjectives. Therefore, we designed a small study, in order to examine the media competence of our students, future teachers of German as a second language. The students, as users of new and old media, were asked to devise the teaching unit „Adjektivdeklination“, using new and attractive possibilities for presenting and drilling the part of grammar in question. They were instructed to give a free rein to their imagination and to use all media forms they want – from the „classic“ blackboard, wallpaper, CD-player, up to the Web 2.0 possibilities, such as the Facebook or social bookmarking websites. Our aim was to examine the extensiveness of their creative potential and to inquire the ways in which they can adapt a teaching unit to different sensory modalities, which is known to facilitate and promote the learning process.
