Impacts of liming on yield, protein contents and cadmium status o soybean
The residual effect of liming on soybean grain yields and Cd concentration in soybean leaves was studied on the cadmium non-polluted acid soil in the 2011 in the west Slavonia region in Croatia. The experiment with increased rates (0, 15, 30, 45 and 60 t ha-1) of carbocalk was conducted in the autumn of 2000 on the very acid soil. Ten years after liming, only application of the highest carbocalk rate significantly increase soybean grain yield. Leaf-Cd was considerably affected, although mobile Cd concentrations in the soil extract were low and mean leaf-Cd on limed treatments were 0.06 mg Cd kg-1 or 8-fold lower in comparison to the control. Liming is useful to decrease cadmium uptake by field crops and for minimizing hazards of Cd food contamination.
