Croatian coast and sea, ships and people, need to be preserved from various hazards at sea, caused by natural adversities or by misuse of manmade equipment. From technical aspect, one of the main conditions to accomplish that goal is to implement safety requirements by means of standards. This paper is authored by the president of the State Office for Standardization and Metrology’s Technical Committee for Maritime Navigation and Radiocommunication Equipment and Systems, and describes the standardization activities of the committee, as a contribution to the goal of protection of Croatian interests on the Adriatic sea.
