Effects of Foundation upon Spur Tooth Deformation
The deformation of spur gear tooth has been the subject of investigation by means of Finite Element Method. By modelling 3D gear models, the actual tooth three-dimensionality was taken into account by the tooth facewidth that can be considered narrow and much wider. The gears were modelled of various geometry expressed by the number of gear teeth cut in the rim of different thickness. The combined 3D effect of tooth facewidth and the rim thickness i. e. the flexibility of tooth foundation of no webbed gear, upon the displacements of the loaded tooth mid-plane, were analysed.
