Haemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome: An analysis of the outbreak in Croatia in 2012.
We conducted a retrospective study involving patients with diagnosed HFRS infection (81 Puumala, 4 Dobrava) and 80 matched patients diagnosed with seasonal influenza, admitted to the University Hospital for Infectious diseases in Zagreb. We provided the first comprehensive analysis of clinical and laboratory findings in HVRS vs. influenza, and have identified new predictors of AKI development. Considering the similarity of symptoms, HFRS might be misdiagnosed as influenza and these findings night help 9in better clinical differentiation of these two siseases
