Dimenzije socijalnih aksioma u Hrvatskoj

Social axioms are beliefs about the material, social and spiritual world, that are deemed to be true as a result of personal experiences and socialization through the institutions of society. Supplementing previous research and theorizing into these generalized and, presumably, universal beliefs about how the world functions, this study aimed to conduct a close emic analysis of their structure within Croatian society. An 83-item version of the Social Axioms Survey (Leung et al., 2002) was administered in an age heterogeneous sample of Croatian respondents. While the exploratory factor analysis yielded a more complex solution, the scree plot indicated the solution with five factors that are remarkably similar to those derived from a pan-cultural solution and repeatedly found in previous research. This observation was further supported by the results of the confirmatory factor analysis. The internal consistency was satisfactory for the scales assessing social cynicism, reward for application, fate control and religiosity dimensions, suggesting that these axioms can be reliably differentiated and assessed among Croatian people using the Social Axioms Survey.
