Premilitary, Military and Postmilitary Variables Associated with PTSD Symptomatology in Croatian War Veterans
This study indicated the associaton of some premilitary, military and postmilitary variables with the severity of PTSD symptomatology in the Croatian war veterans. The significantly higher level of PTSD symptoms was observed with lower economic status, lower education, unemployment, divorced marital status, type of entry in the Croatian army, threat to life, exposure to death, lower family support and more readjustment dfficulties upon homecoming. Overall, the study supported the notion that in war veterans the etiology of PTSD is linked to the wide range of contributing factors beside intense combat stressors.
