Career Adaptability in Croatia: Validation of Career Adapt-Abilities Scale and its relation to Career Maturity
Considering ever greater demands in career planning, the construct of career adaptability (Savickas, 1997) emerged in last two decades. In this study, we will present results on validity of new Career Adapt-Abilities Scale CAAS (Savickas, 2012) and its relation to some aspects of career maturity – career construction and vocational identity. On samples of 309 adolescents aged 14-15 years and 492 adolescents aged 18 years we applied Croatian versions of Career Adapt-Abilities Scale CAAS, Student Career Construction Inventory, SCCI and Vocational Identity Status Assessment, VISA. We strongly confirmed four-dimensional structure of CAAS and high internal reliability of its four scales (concern, control, curiosity and confidence). We also found expected positive relations among career adaptability and realization of specific goals in construction of one’s career. Moreover, we observed expected differences in career adaptability of adolescents belonging to different vocational identity statuses. Our results clearly confirm validity of the Career Adapt-Abilities Scale in Croatian sample and encourage its further application in Croatian samples.
