Sažetak:
The motivation is considered as a continuum between positive (and personal) attitudes about sport and negative (environmental) motives, as well as between fun (relaxation) motives, through social motives, to ambition (self- esteem) motivation. Our general assumption is that in athletes who won state and international medals, or who are currently still athletes competitors, positive (and personal) attitudes about sport and ambition (self-esteem) motivation should be dominant. Main goals of the research are: to determine the differences between female athletes in their sport motivation according to achieving medals on state/international championships and activity status (retired/still competitor) (1) ; to determine the correlations between sport motives and their age, work experience, number of children and experience in certain sport (2). The average age of the surveyed female sport practitioners (in total N=342) was 31.53±13.92 вears (M±SD). The results do not support the hypothesis about the continuum of sport motives. Regardless of whether an athlete is still competitor or more successful on state and international championships or not, she has similar combination of motivations. Only differences between more successful and less successful female athletes is found in fun /relaxation motivation and ambition/ self- esteem motivation, where higher scores have those who achieved medals on state championships. Among sport motives, highest (positive) correlations are found between social motivation, relaxation motivation and ambition/ self-esteem motivation, what is additional evidence about mixing of motivations in the female athletes. The correlations with socio-demographic variables are very low.
