Gender and the Croatian Bishops’ Conference
The article analyzes the meaning of the syntagm "gender ideology" in the Bishop's Message of the Croatian Bishop's Conference "Male and Female Creates them" (2014). The concept of the term "gender" in the Message is compared with the meaning that I have in science and in international documents. The comparison shows that in the Message it is wrong to interpret the concepts of gender and derivative of that term, to narrow their meaning in science and gender equality policy, to simplify the call to the Bible and to the natural law, and to outline contexts of the individual authors. The bishop's message is therefore evaluated as a document that does not offer the summons to the subject discussion of the concept of gender issue, but rather pessimistic and suspiciously rejecting it without genuine confrontation and openness to dialogue.
