Discourse and commemorations

Cognitive discourse analysis of the commemorations includes linguistic (and multimodal) research on: -the process of the building the national identity concepts and (what is a nation?) -activation of the emotional experiences (how does the discourse arouse the emotions?) Levels of analysis: - Individual political speeches delivered at the commemorations -Media coverage of the commemoration event, statements from politicians, commentators -Large corpus of text in .hr domain related and nonrelated to the commemoration events The paper presents different methodologies to analyse various perspectives and some preliminary results.
