The main goal of this article is to show actual situation in Croatian schools about the problem of the educational inclusion of students with disabilities in the regular school systems. First part of article will present the current education system in Croatia, existing legislative and policies about inclusive education. In the second part of the article we will review some results of the institution of the Ombudsperson for Children, mainly about educational rights of children. We will discuss about appropriate education for children with developmental disabilities in primary and secondary schools and especially about problems with students with behavioral disorders. Finally, we will give some examples of good practice and the efforts made in last few years for implementation of inclusive education in schools. Also we will present some guidelines and future directions for a proper inclusion in Croatia. |
