Sažetak:
Management of technological wastewater includes multidisciplinary approach and alignment with the strict international legislation. Chemical engineering in environmental protection has a very important role in various methods of treatment of industrial waste waters, the design process, study of mechanisms and kinetics of the process. Organic pollutants in wastewater pose a particular problem because of their toxicity, bioaccumulation and poor biodegradability. The aim of this study is to explore the advantages offered by advanced oxidation technologies as destructive methods for processing of wastewaters polluted by persistent organic contaminants. Unlike classic, these technologies are considered to be low and waste less technology for wastewater treatment, and their application reduces the need for secondary processing. For this purpose a novel photo catalyst. modified TiO2, fly ash/TiO2, composite was synthesized , characterized and tested. The effects of key operating parameters, such as initial pH and catalyst dosage and hydrogen peroxide dosage on decolorization and mineralization extents were studied. The mineralization efficiency was studied in terms of of total organic content. Primary objective was to determine the optimal conditions for each of the processes. The influence of initial dye concentration on final process efficiency as well as on dye degradation kinetics was also studied. Biodegradability of residual products was determined by measuring chemical and biological oxygen demand on start and at the end of the treatment.
