Obnova kulta titulara dalmatinskih gradova u kontekstu Tridentske obnove: splitski slučaj
In the focus of the research are six paintings depicting early Christian saints, St. Domnius and Domnion, in the chorus of the cathedral in Split, painted by the painter Pietro Ferrari from Emilia between 1683 and 1685. The cycle was commissioned by the Archbishop of Split Stefano Cosmi (1629-1707) in the midst of the Morean War (1684-1699). The paper shows the extent to which the actual historical events had an impact on the iconography of the cycle. The political significance of the Ferrari cycle can be understood only through the knowledge of the historical context and the way that scholastics analyzed the history of baroque.
