Information system of aquaculture in the Mediterranean region (SIPAM)

Based on the FAO–MEDRAP Project an information system for promotion of aquaculture in the Mediterranean region (SIPAM) has been developed. It supports and serves as a tool for regional aquaculture research and development networks which operate in the Mediterranean basin. Today, SIPAM network consists of Regional center located in Tunis and 16 national centers organized in countries included in network. Regional center is responsible for general coordination, those national centers are responsible for data flow inside country and their exchange between national level and Regional center. Croatian national network includes national center located at the Institute of oceanography and fisheries in Split and few dislocated centers. In the frame of SIPAM network distributed database was developed using ACCESS RDBMS with interface for connecting to WEB pages of Internet by Java-scripts. Using GIS tools data retrieved from database can be easily presented in graphic forms.
