The Apocalypse of John in the 14th century Croatian Glagolitic Vatican Illirico 5 Breviary

Lessons from the Apocalypse of John are found in service books of the twenty-three manuscript or printed Glagolitic breviaries from the 13th to the 16th century. They were read as part of the Easter cycle. The Apocalypse is one of the rare Croatian Glagolitic biblical books to be preserved in its entirety. The full text with 22 chapters was found in no less than six breviaries: Vat5 VO N1 Dab N2 Lab2, while other breviaries contain shorter readings. The breviary Vat5 stands out among other Croatian Glagolitic breviaries on account of the length of biblical readings. The text is of special value because it is highly representative of the southern group of breviaries, i.e. of the subgroup in which texts are (almost) completely adapted from the Latin source.
