Tooth movement with appliances based on nickel and titanium has got great osteogenic potential and can regenerate deficient parts of alveolar bone and gingiva and rehabilitate compromised occlusal relations and a patient's masticatory function. However, orthodontic treatment raises some risks for dental enamel, gingiva, pulp, root, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone. The lecture focused on methods of screening and recording periodontal problems in patients and management of patients with reduced periodontium. Project of Croatian science foundation "Immunological and regenerative implication of corrosion of dental appliences" (HRZZ 7500) was presented, as well as results of the project. |
